FDA Slams Coca-Cola For Diet Coke Plus, Urges New LabelThis article has been read 5 times
Washington (dbTechno) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has come out and slammed Coca-Cola Co. for misbranding their product, Diet Coke Plus.
The FDA stated that the company misbranded the beverage and are now pushing for a new label.
According to the latest reports, it appears that the claims on the label are false in regards to the type of vitamins and nutrients it contains.
The FDA sent a warning letter to the Coca-Cola Co. back on December 10th, asking for a change of the label.
The feeling coming out of the FDA is that the company did wrong when it tried to market the product as one which is loaded with vitamins.
The label itself described the product as “Diet Coke with vitamins and minerals.”
The FDA has made it clear though that you cannot use the “plus” term for this sort of product since it is not filled with proper nutrients.
Coca-Cola Co. has fought back stating their label follows all FDA regulations.
The FDA wants the Coca-Cola Co. to act quickly to solve this issue with the label.
